Soar Box – October 2021 (Afghanistan)

Set during the Taliban rule, this is a forbidden love story that examines the impact the Taliban had/have on the people of Afghanistan. Author Atia Abawi manages to weave a tale that is both heartbreaking and hopeful. It is beautifully narrated and does a great job of explaining the complex and nuanced history in a manner that a teenager can understand.
