What is the Atlas Book Club Experience?
We take the kids on a journey every month guided by the very capable Capt. Tern! We feature a different continent each month —the books selected will represent different countries within the selected continent. Each age group will engage in an educational and cultural experience exploring a different country within the continent.
What is inside an Atlas Book Club Box?
Each box will contain one book that features a different part of the world, a fun facts card, a postcard that can be mailed to family or penpal, a bookmark, and an activity and/or souvenir to immerse the child in a country or region featured in the book. The very first box will also contain a map poster and country sticker; every box thereafter will contain a country sticker to go on the map poster each month.
How are the books selected?
Our team, made up of book lovers with experience in the children’s book publishing industry, read every book recommended and select based on certain factors. Our criteria for selection is that the selected book is:
- Age appropriate
- Interesting and engaging
- Represents global diversity
- Tells a story showcasing diversity not just in race and culture, but also diversity within race and culture.
What age ranges are your boxes appropriate for?
We have four age ranges:
- Hatch – picture books for all ages. These books are for kids who are beginner readers, and those who are too young to read but love being read to.
- Nest Jr. – Our latest addition to the ABC family, the Nest Jr. Box is just right for newly independent readers ages 7-9 years old. These include picture books with more complex storylines and easy to read chapter books.
- Nest – ideal for ages 9-12 years old. These are chapter books for advanced readers.
- Soar – ideal for ages 12 years and above. These are chapter books or graphic novels that fall into the YA category for our more advanced readers. We pay particular attention when reading and selecting these books, and highlight content that parents should be aware of, such as violence, in the note to parents.
When is the last day to purchase a subscription to participate in that month’s Atlas Box Experience?
In order to receive the Atlas Box of the month, you must subscribe by the 18th of that month. For example, to receive the January Atlas Box, you must subscribe by January 18. Orders placed after the 18th of the month will receive their first box the following month.
Can I purchase Atlas Boxes from prior months?
Yes! As long as they are available, you can purchase past boxes.
When will I be billed for my subscription?
Subscribers will be billed for that month’s box immediately upon purchase. Future billing will occur on the same day every month. For example, if you purchase a monthly subscription box on January 15, the subscription will renew on February 15.
When will my subscription renew for monthly, 3 month prepay, or 6 month prepay subscriptions?
Billing will occur automatically on the anniversary of your purchase. For example, if you purchase a monthly subscription box on January 15, the subscription will renew on February 15. If you purchased a 3 month prepay subscription on January 15, you will be billed for another 3 months on April 15. If you purchased a 6 month prepay subscription on January 15, you will be billed for another 6 months on July 15.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel your subscription at any time by logging into your Atlas Book Club account and follow the prompts to cancel your subscription. You can also cancel by emailing email@example.com. Once we receive your email, we will immediately cancel your subscription.
If your subscription renewed prior to you cancelling, and you received a renewal receipt in your email, this means your card was charged. Cancelling a subscription does not give you an automatic refund, but will prevent the account from renewing again in the future. If you need a refund, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible so we can stop the shipment of your next box. Once a box has shipped, we are not able to give a refund.
Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds if you receive a book that you aren’t interested in. We work really hard to bring you interesting books, and newly released books when possible. If you receive a book you already have or are uninterested in, feel free to gift to a friend, a children’s hospital or a local library. If you receive a damaged item, please send us a photo of the damage to email@example.com and we will gladly ship you a replacement!
Can I gift a subscription?
Absolutely! Simply go to our gift page and select your preferred option. You will be able to make a one time purchase of either 1 box delivered that month (if ordered prior to the 18th of the month), 3 boxes delivered over 3 months, or 6 boxes over 6 months. You will not be billed a subscription plan. However, if you want to purchase a subscription package, you can select one of the traditional subscriptions. You can address the gift directly to the child when checking out.
When are boxes shipped?
Boxes are shipped around the second week of each month and should arrive within 2 to 7 business days.
How much is shipping and where do you ship?
Shipping is FREE! Well… free within the United States. We do ship internationally but you would have to pay the appropriate shipping rate.
